Tracking your Blog

The first and foremost factor of a blog is nothing, but its "Readers". The most important thing that a blogger has to take care of is also the same. And that too, should be to increase the readers os ones blog. Here is where tracking of a blog becomes important. It should be important for a blogger to know where a reader comes , which all links the readers like more, how much time those readers have spent in a blog, which all pages are most popular, which geographical area does each of them come from, which all search engines have referred people to a blog, which time of the day did a blog get the most readers and so on ... All these things will be provided by many of the available blog tracking services. Many are free but most are not. One of the free services which provide all of the above mentioned services is "HiStats". Histats also provides counters to be displayed on a blog. Hidden counters are available! The World of Micro Blogging

Micro blogging is a networking service that allows mobile users of cell phones and other Internet connected devices to stay abreast of activities within a group by receiving frequent published updates, typically of 140 characters or less. Text messages are uploaded to a micro blogging service such as Twitter, Jaiku and others, then distributed to group members. All parties subscribed in the targeted group are instantly notified of the micro blog, enabling groups to keep tabs on one another’s activities in real time. A Micro blog can also be public, with arbitrary subscribers joining and dropping micro blogs at will.

Like any other Internet tool, micro blogging can be utilized for a number of purposes. While many are social, more pragmatic uses including business applications, also apply.

Teens can use micro blogging as a social service to see what their friends are up to, scout out parties, or to simply stay linked for the fun of it while engaging in every day activities like school, shopping and studies. Student officers might also create micro blogs for class committees to keep abreast of progress on project assignments.

It’s not only students who can benefit from this modernized, improved version of the telephone tree. Faculty might also find uses for micro blogging. For example, when preparing for performances, band and drama teachers could use micro blogs to network participating students for improved organizational efficiency. The quick nature of micro blogs makes it a good management tool when the success of a project relies on many different people pulling together in a timely fashion.

Businesses can also use this tool for gathering and disseminating bullet-type information to the right parties, such as from a sales conference or client meeting. Court reporters can use microblogging to relay updates to producers and anchors in one fell swoop, and politicians can keep in touch with staff. Tour staff such as roadies, sound engineers and drivers could all benefit from being connected via a micro blog that would keep everyone with the tour abreast of problems as they arise and resources at hand. By using a micro blog one hand always knows what the other is doing.

Another use of micro blogging involves boosting site traffic. A popular website blogger might announce updates or teasers to his or her blog through a micro blog. An embedded link can take readers directly to the site.

While many question the need for yet another way to stay connected, over 100 micro blog services reportedly exist as of Spring 2008, with the trend headed upward. Before subscribing to the micro blog world, be sure your cell phone plan will not put you in the poor house for extended text messaging. Some plans offer monthly flat rates for unlimited text messaging, while others charge up to $0.15 US Dollars per message sent or received. In many cases a monthly cell phone plan comes with a limited number of “free” text messaging, with extra messages driving up the bill.

Making links open in a New window

If you want the link to open in a new window, instead of having it take readers away from your page, you can click the "Edit HTML" tab (in Blogger) and modify it using target="new" tag as shown below.

A link's HTML code looks like this (minus the spaces before and after the brackets):

< href="http://www.exampleURL.com">text text text< /a >

To make the link open in a new window, add target="new" between the URL's endquote and closing bracket. Like this:

< href="http://www.exampleURL.com" style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);"> target="_blank">text text text< /a >

The grey coloured portion has to be inserted by you where the rest of the code will be there in the HTML code of the Link

If you have a Typepad blog, you can install a widget that makes ALL links automatically open in new windows.

The Clickbank way to earn money online

For the new Internet marketer, the term Clickbank may very well mean nothing more than a snap purse with a number of major credit cards tucked nicely away. Clickbank is actually the largest affiliate marketplace on the Internet. While there is no way that we can possibly give you all that you need to know about Clickbank in this article, hopefully, it will give you a decent idea of what to expect from this affiliate giant and your quest for Internet marketing greatness.

Clickbank is really the affiliate marketer's dream come true. Back in the early days, if you wanted to sell one of your products online, you have to get your own merchant account and credit card processing. For new businesses, this was very hard to do with no credit history. It was rare to get credit for doing more than $1,000 in sales a month until you built up a reputation as a reputable business. The reason for this was because credit card companies were afraid of refunds for newer businesses, should their products or services not be up to par. Needless to say, this made it very hard for the new businessman on the Internet to get anywhere. Well, Clickbank came to the rescue.

They first set up shop in 1998. Their purpose was simple. They established themselves in order to give new businesses a vehicle through which to sell their products and services. Today, the Clickbank Marketplace has over 10,000 products and services listed. They handle all the collecting of monies to be paid for these products and services and cut vendors checks twice a month, unlike the credit card companies that pay you every 30 days.

Having said all that, there is really more to Clickbank than just collecting payments for you product or service and paying you twice a month. Clickbank is also a home where those who want to promote other people's products can go. As was stated about, there are over 10,000 products listed in the Marketplace so each affiliate has plenty to choose from. Sign up with the company, in order to become an affiliate is easy, and Clickbank's tracking system is one of the best on the Internet.

The problem with Clickbank is that there are a number of regulations that both vendors and affiliates need to be aware of. Weeding your way through the Clickbank website to try to figure all this out can be a time consuming process. Fortunately, there is a resource in my signature box that will tell you all that you need to know about how Clickbank runs so that you'll be prepared for doing business with them. This way you won't make the same mistakes many people make that end up costing them hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

Ways to increase traffic to a Blog

TIP 1

Choose proper keywords for site and fully optimize your site for these keywords. That is, select an appropriate keyword or phrase then make sure the keyword phrase is included in your site's title bar, alt tags (with your logo, for example), top headline for the page, and once within the text of your page.

TIP 2

The more content your site includes than the more entry points for search engines and visitors. Plus regularly adding new content and features will make sure both search engines and visitors return more frequently as well as tell others about your special features. Publishing RSS feeds on your site can be a great way to add new, fresh content to your site that regularly updates.

TIP 3

Write articles to share with article directories, newsletters, blogs, and web sites and provide links to your web site...

TIP 4

Generate as much traffic as you can by trading links with companies whose content or products compliment those on your site.

TIP 5

Since search engines often do not index pages past the first level (link from the index page), you should put links to most of your key pages on the first page of your site. The more pages a search engines indexes from your site, the greater the chance that your site will be found. Don't forget to include keywords and description meta tags on each of those pages that are appropriate to the content of those pages.

Tips for optimising your website or blog

Tips to Optimize New Website

Top 10 Tips to Optimize New Website & 6 Tips for Back-linking! As it is said that "Necessity is the mother of all inventions", one of my clients wanted my advice as what are the points to be considered while optimizing a new website for Search Engines. So, even though I know what points will make a new website completely optimized, here is a list of guidelines that can be called as SEO tips for new web sites or what ever the users want to call it.

Below are the points that can be followed while starting an Optimizing process for a new website:

Keyword Research: First and foremost, we need to see what the Keywords are that need to be targeted and related to niche of a website. Here we can use online tools such as Digitalpoint keyword Suggestion Tool.

Site Categories: Categories of the site need to be made according to the avenues of its business. For example: There can be categories such as Products, Services, Support, Faqs etc.

Web site Directory Structure: Target specific keywords for pages on directory structure. Specific KWs here need to be generic words such as Medical Billing, Medical Transcription etc.

File names: The File names need to be inclined towards the targeted keywords. As mentioned above the targeted KWs for example, should be generic keywords.

Titles, Metatags - Meta Description, Meta Keywords tags: These need to have key phrases in them such as Medical Billing in India, Medical Transcription in India, Medical Billing in Chennai, Medical Transcription in Chennai etc., the file name can be given as /medical-billing-chennai.html etc.

Sitemaps: There are two types of Sitemaps that should be used for any new website. These are Sitemap.html within a website and the other one is Google Sitemap as Sitemap.xml in xml format. The xml based sitemap can be generated using any of the available online sitemap generating tool. Sitemap.html page will have only links with all the inner pages of a website. These two are to make the pages saturated on the search engine databases called as Search Engine Saturation.

Body Content: This is the main factor that a website needs to have to convert visitors to sale or to just make a better site stickiness for the users. Here, we need to use any of the online LSI tools, like the one that I use from Quintura LSI Tool to make a copy of a web page more relevant to the website. Quintura search engine works the way people search and its LSI tool evaluates latent semantic terms.
Each page should have atleast 3 text links (anchored texts) to the inner pages that are relevant to the context of a page.
Navigation should be consistent and run through the site's pages. Most important pages need to be linked from the index page that includes the Sitemap.html.

Positioning Body Content on a web page: Here, it is better to understand a little bit about how a search engine spider sees a web page while scanning it. Search engines read pages like we do, from top to bottom. It also assumes that the content near the top of the page is more important than the content at the bottom of the page. The text at the top of a page receives more weight than the text at the bottom. Hence it is better to shift the unnecessary code such as the navigation links as on Side bar menu etc., to the bottom of the page.

While Coding Web Pages: While coding WebPages for a website, calling external CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) can be used to minimize the amount of code on WebPages and is beneficial website optimization process. Also, CSS should use a different style sheet for mobile visitors, not a different site. Such style sheets are not particularly difficult to construct, they were covered that Matt Cutts reviewed on Dev Articles.

Back Links: Last but not the least! this is one of the most important factors that many of the Search Engines consider to weigh a website. Following are a Top 6 Handy tips for increasing backlinks for new web sites.

1. Submit your site to Web Directories: This is a pretty monotonous process that can get you several hundred backlinks if you have the time. An alternative would be to hire a manual directory submitter. Here’s a list of web directories you can use. You can also find some blog directories here.

2. Offering your Expertise: As most of the entrepreneurs have a specific skill set such as Medical Billing techniques, Translation, web design, copywriting, SEO etc., they can write to an established website and offer to optimise their website in return for a listing on their webpage. This offers excellent branding when it is picked up by a website with a good traffic to their site.

3. Submit Press Releases to PR sites: A basic press release about your website’s launch can be released to several PR websites, who will distribute it to various online news outlets. A good way to get a free link that I recommend is to submit industry related articles at PRWeb and PRLeap. There are many more that were been collected can be accessed from my website that is created to Build Brands where the list will be uploaded soon.

4. Social Bookmarking, Polling or Voting Websites: Many social polling websites like Technorati or Digg are often crawled by search engines each day and their links do help to get any website indexed easily. These Voting sites combines social bookmarking, blogging and RSS where the users decide which story gets on the front page by voting. 3spots is one of the biggest lists of social voting and bookmarking websites can be use for more information.

5. Signature on Forums: Forums in business niche can be started and contributions to their discussions can be done. Insert a link to the homepage or some inner pages of your site to those forums postings.

6. Blogs: Use the popular Blogs that you have or set up a new blog on different blog networks like Wordpress.com, Blogger, typepad etc., post good content each day and Link to specific WebPages on your website with related text links on the page. Also, you can comment on the other's Blogs and do some Guest postings on the PRs that are blog postings.

Introduction to a Blog

A blog is a simple, cost-effective way to create a professional online presence.

A blog allows you to quickly and easily create a place on the web where people can find you, learn about you, and interact with you. You don’t need an IT staff or a degree in computer science to do it; if you can send an email, you can create a blog. Whether you want to create an online presence for fun or business or both, a Blogger blog is the most effective way to do it.

A blog creates a conversation between you and the people who matter to you.

A blog allows you to have an ongoing conversation about topics that are important to you. If you’re a wine lover, you might want to engage with other oenophiles. If you’re an artist, you might want to create a dialogue with other people in the arts community. Independent professionals might want to exchange ideas on their area of expertise. No matter what your purpose, a Blogger blog allows you to start the conversation and keep it going.

A blog is a tremendous way to boost your search engine rankings.

A blog is a great way to be discovered. Every time you create a post, Blogger feeds your content directly to a search engine; the more often you post, the higher your search engine ranking will be, and the more likely it will be that people will discover your blog. If you want more credibility, more customers, or a larger audience, creating a blog is an ideal way to make it happen.

A blog delivers a huge impact for very little money.

Creating a web presence used to require a hefty budget for graphic design, programming and hosting. Worst of all, every update of content or graphics incurred additional cost. No longer! You can launch a blogger blog in minutes, at no cost!!. Post as often as you like, change your design and layout whenever you want, and host all of your content, photos, and media files on its servers, all for free!!

A blog allows you to take control of what you publish.

Blogger has created an intuitive interface that makes it easy to publish all kinds of content. You don’t have to possess any special technical knowledge, or plan for months or be constrained by print deadlines — publish as much as you want, any time you want. You’re in control.

A blog allows you to develop a position of thought leadership.

A blog is a content platform that allows you to fashion a consistent message over time to demonstrate thought leadership in a particular field. This is tremendously valuable for independent professionals and businesses that are focusing on a particular market. A blog sends an implicit message of transparency and accountability, and builds trust in customers, partners, and potential clients.

A blog is a valuable business tool for collecting customer feedback.

Blogs are increasingly important for businesses, because they create a forum in which customers can offer feedback, interact with each other, and obtain access to timely information. Consistent blog posts can be an indispensable tool for public relations, and can foster loyalty in clients, media and partners alike.

A blog creates a historical record of your content.

Whether you’re blogging for business or blogging about something you’re passionate about, your posts form a record that will become increasingly valuable over time. Business bloggers can use blog archives as a knowledge base to help new employees get up to speed. Independent professionals can point potential clients to past posts. Individual bloggers can refer back to posts as if they were journal entries. Best of all, blog archives are searchable, downloadable, and safely stored in Blogger’s data centers.
